How to clean up securely after Superstorm Sandy
Earlier this week the PPTS crew helped clear out residences of flooded items from Weehawken to the Shirt Shore. I can assure you after the week we were tight and sore in the heavy lifting. I never recognized a soaked settee cushion weighs 60 lbs! The
PPTS staff takes fitness severely and stays productive but the lifting definitely took it's toll on us. Here is a prompt of how to lift safely and properly:
Take your time and have a strategy of the way you are going to lift a whopping object, parajumper. This can stop an awkward movement whilst lifting potentially keeping your back through serious injury, parajumpers long bear.
In case you are straining, ask for help.
Make sure you lift with your hip and legs, this means if you are raising something off the ground bend over your knees and get your current hips close to the floor while keeping your rear straight.
Keep your joints bent and feet hip width separate during the lift.
Maintain head up, this will aid your posture during the lift.
Never bend over at your hip to select something up.
There is so much debris that will washed up in the storm surge, take care clearing your property. My spouse and i noticed nails within wood, nails inside shingles that travelled off of houses and also slippery floors in wet flooded residences. Be careful and use extreme care, let's not make a bad situation a whole lot worse. Stay strong Shirt!
