The happy couple arrived in the RMC in late May and also have spent the final number of weeks working in conjunction with the 444 members, who are undergoing training with fellow CF members, to make up the ROTO 5 Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle squadron deploying to Afghanistan in February.
Their duties were vast and varied, serving as true illustration of what would be expected of these as part of a squadron.
Although some of (444) were away in Edmonton doing training we were taking care of the logs for the helicopter and putting them within the computer. Towards the person with average skills it might not seem complicated, but military life demands that protocol be followed but for the young Officer Cadets, it was sometimes a challenging chance to learn.
OCdt Wallace for instance had completed making all the necessary living accommodations and arrangements for a number of incoming soldiers training with ROTO 5. In the last minute, his immediate supervisor informed him that even more soldiers were in route.
Everyday theres something new that comes up thats totally out in left field and you have to change everything you just planned during the last week, explains the Cape Breton lad.
Both men experienced the environment cadet system growing up, earning them their glider pilots licence and pilots licence. Phase three will take these to one of several training sites depending on the aircraft they elect to fly within their military careers.
If you are surface of your course and a good pilot, you usually possess a choice. We were told we've kind of a 90 percent guarantee of having anything we would like just because from the pilot shortage where we are in our training, says OCdt Wallace.
Oddly enough, they are saying there is a 100 percent chance of getting educated to fly fighter jets, but neither has an interest. Instead, canada goose sale jackets, OCdt Daltons first choice would be military transport aircraft and OCdt Wallaces is helicopters.
OCdt Dalton says despite some occasional downtime as the Griffon helicopter was being repaired or perhaps in Bc, his experience of Labrador is a he wont soon forget.
Where else will you come and obtain the chance around the weekend to consider a quad and go see a lake in the middle of nowhere and meet each one of these people and do so many unique Labradorian things, he gushes.
Following a busy summer with plenty of valuable career experience gained, both Officer Cadets will depart 5 Wing on August 10 for a well deserved two week vacation before heading back for another year in the RMC.
