It was built in 1956,parajumpers jakke norge, so it stood a pretty good run, however i agree it is a waste to see it proceed. I remember it in the 60s and 1970's there was Carsons at one end, Goldblatts in the other (where Menards is). There was a record store,parajumpers rea, Vicki's card shop, Allied Radio stations (before Radio Shack), Traditional western Auto, etc. Q's Eating place on Butterfield Road remains to be going strong if anyone grew up around Hillside from the 1980s I'm sure a person spent some time there. there was also a woolworths. they had a food counter. frozen cherry cokes and sausages. loved it. don't forget candy's around the world. whiskey sours have been my favortie. there was allisons and just what was the name of the jean location. teds or something like that. and there was obviously a restaurant in the local mall. they had red barn doorways. i think menards now uses up the place. spent a lot of weekends at "the middle." where do all you grow up and also attend school? just curious. not very typically I run into (as we say) from someone from your old neighborhood. My pops passed this past Sept and I'll be from there by this tumble. He was the first owner of the house and the man and my mom existed in Bellwood for almost 50 years! Me and my personal 3 sisters almost all attended and graduated from St. John Chrysostom Institution on St. Charles Highway. We all went to ICHS throughout Elmhurst but all of out and about neighborhood friends went to PW. OMGwhat a coincidence that I identified this forum with regards to Hillside Shopping Center. My friend and that i were just speaking about that corner restaurant by Goldblatt's (turned Zayre within the 80's). It had red barn doors as well as red pleather booths! They'd the best Pattymelts. It was right across from a HOT DOG Buggy/Stand. That mall just what the bomb! Thom Mcahn Kinney shoes shops, Woolworths (Played many online games of PacMan there), Your popcorn shop that have the best cheese popcorn! I can't believe you appreciated Candies Around the World as well as the Whiskey SOur candiesthose were my fav too. Your Hillside Theater and Hillside Rectangular (multiplex theaters) are not Baptist chapels. Boy if the partitions of those theaters can talk. Anyway, thanks for letting me know the name of the Red Barn restaurant!!Oh alright. Just wondering. I am aware what you mean in regards to the large class measurement. I went to PW for just one year and then our family moved to Lake Zurich. Talk about culture shock. On our first day's school, there was some form of assembly in these people gym and I plainly remember the princpal informing all of us enrollment reached around 1000 students and how excited they were and so forth. My sister and i also just looked at the other and groaned. If I would've graduated at PW our own graduating class was ready 800 students. I have nothing but fond recollections of Bellwood and the area.
