5 meetings to discuss hunting permits
There will be five public meetings to gather comments around the quantity of hunting permits for cougars and special goosehunting regulations for that coming seasons.
Cougar hunting proposals the Division of Wildlife Resources is recommending could possibly lead to about 325 cougars being drawn in Utah throughout the state's 2006 season. That's similar to the 332 cougars taken throughout the 2005 season and also the 321 taken during the 2004 season.
"An effort continues to be under way in Utah for a long time to reduce the amount of cougars within the state,www.vederacapital.com/doudounepascher-france, also it appears those efforts have worked, canada goose sale," says Kevin Bunnell,www.fairhomeinteriors.ca/archives/1959, mammals program coordinator for that DWR.
"Now we're shifting the emphasis from trying to lessen the number of cougars to maintaining a balance between cougars and also the deer, bighorn sheep along with other animals cougars victimize."
There will also be a proposal to create separate Canada goose hunting focus northern Utah, the major waterfowl hunting alter the DWR is proposing for the upcoming season.
The zone would come with all Cache and Rich counties, and also the northeast part of Box Elder County. The goose hunt in the zone would begin at the beginning of the waterfowl season in October and would run until midJanuary.
The goosehunting season in the remainder of the state will be a split season, however it will be a bit different from this past year. The growing season would begin in early October, after which it might close during the last week in October. The growing season would then reopen and run 'till the end of January.
"Federal law only allows the goose hunting season to become a certain number of days," said Tom Aldrich, migratory game bird coordinator for that DWR.
"Last year we would have liked to allow hunters to hunt geese in late January. That's the time of year when geese begin leaving cities across the Wasatch Front and begin going to the marshes again to start the breeding and nesting season."
The growing season had to be closed for two weeks last year to permit hunters to hunt geese at the beginning of the growing season and still have at times available to hunt in late January. Because the general waterfowl season will open one week later this season on Oct,canada goose. 7 closing the goose season for only one week will still leave hunters with enough days to hunt into late January.
Aldrich said some of the hunters in northern Utah, and some of the state and federal agency waterfowl managers in the area, have indicated they'd prefer to return to an upright season.
