Sailor confident of containing Eels
St George Illawarra star Wendell Sailor has bristled at suggestions Parramatta will aim more of their attack in the right side he patrols with fiveeighth Jamie Soward in Sunday's NRL qualifying final.
The Dragons thrashed the Eels 370 last Friday night, but commentators highlighted the right side defended by Sailor, Soward and centre Beau Scott as a possible chink in the minor premiers' otherwise impregnable armour.
The closest Parramatta got to troubling the scoreboard attendant on Friday was when left winger Luke Burt crossed in that zone, simply to spill the ball over the line.
When Soward's defence was questioned earlier in the season, coach Wayne Bennett backed the diminutive playmaker, and on Thursday it had been right winger Sailor rushing to his aid.
Asked if he expected the Eels to target the region, Sailor fired back: "We don't mind who they target, we're confident across the board to allow them to target whoever that like."
Earlier this week, Parramatta skipper Nathan Cayless would offer only a smile along with a "can't say too much" when he was asked about the strategies, but freewheeling fullback Jarryd Hayne and left centre Krisnan Inu won' doubt be firming up their attacking options.
Sailor said the Dragons were cautious about newly crowned Dally M medallist Hayne.
"When you're in a zone and a purple patch, you appear in the players through the years like your (Darren) Lockyers,www.cardinalsigns.ca/page/554, your (Andrew) Johnses and he's in that class of player, canada goose price, your Greg Inglises," he said.
"He's certainly the very best in the comp right now."
Sailor was clad within the club's "goose of the week" Tshirt on Thursday but refused to elaborate on why, while captain Ben Hornby said a call of "composure" each time the winger touched the ball was an "injoke".
Not so secretive was Sailor handing his selfdeclared title of "people's champ" to Soward following the fiveeighth won the ProvanSummons people's choice award in the Dally Ms.
"One of the things I had been telling the boys, I'm the person of the people and also the people's champ and I think, following the other night, he got the medal and I said you're obviously the people's champ now, doudoune canada goose prix," Sailor said.
"I'm happy for Sowie, canada goose sale, he's copped a lot of heat this season and he's been remarkable the way he's taken it aboard and I'm happy that individuals know very well what a great talent he's and I think he's going to step up in this finals series."
