Robert M. Cole was a successful businessman back in the early 1900's. In 1919, he purchased 3 lots to build a general store on the eastern side side of Murphy Park in Glendale, Arizona. Howell made the two story constructing, and it was developed by Robert Fultz. Your building was the first one in your area, and as a result, expanded Glendale's company district. The store was obviously a welcome addition to Glendale's expanding population and agricultural market. Since then, the building has housed a new SprouseReitz and a shoe shop. It replaced the actual trading post and also street peddlers, and was usually centrally located in the city.
