« on: April 28, 2010, 08:26 PM »So I've just been listening to a bunch of songs on my iTunes over and over like a crazed obsessive, and it got me to wondering - what are your favourite five songs right now (as in, the ones you keep listening to today/this week), and why?
Here's pandora store mine (in no particular order):
Cursive - Sierra
It's got an interesting lyrical theme (an absentee father wanting to be involved with his daughter finally) and I really like the instrumentation and vocal melodies. Also, there are some really great lines in it that give it a real poignancy.
Fear Factory - 540,000 Degrees Fahrenheit
I've listened to this a lot the last few days. I'm a big fan of Burton Bell's voice, and I really like the melody he sings on this.
Converge - Wretched World
I simply cannot stop listening to this song. It's the most heartbreaking thing I've heard in a long time; even surpassing 'Grim Heart/Black Rose' from their previous album.
Porcupine Tree - Russia on Ice
It was totally badass hearing them play this live last October. For some reason, iTunes keeps playing it despite the fact I have over 5000 tracks on random. I'm not complaining.
Pig Destroyer - Natasha
I put this on when I'm writing. The plethora of textures and the sheer malevolence of it really help to inspire me (I'm currently trying to write a Zombie novel). For some pandora charms reason I actually find it more unsettling because its so radically different from everything else Pig Destroyer have ever done.
So what are yours?
